What’s it like to study Cyber Security? Q&A with Cris

by india

Hi Cris! What course did you study?

I was doing BTEC Level 3 IT. At first, I was planning to do Business, however I decided to take a risk and study IT. I enjoyed learning about computer hardware and software, and in the final year which is the extended diploma I was able to finally understand now what I want to do in the future.

I am so happy that this unexpected thing happened. If I had chosen Business I would never have learned about cybersecurity, cloud computing, web design, project management, enterprise computing, and software development – which informed my future career path.

Which were your most favourite modules on your course?

Cyber Security, Software Development, and Game Development. I enjoyed the development side of projects the most, I learned about how things are planned too. The module that I enjoyed the most was Cybersecurity mainly because of curiosity.

How did you find travel to college? What was your typical timetable like?

For me it was not complicated mainly because live local and walked to college every day. I was in college 4 days per week, and was able to work a part-time job. I had free periods to study throughout the week which I would stay at college for.

What are your plans for the future?

I am planning to go to university and do Cyber Security, so choosing IT has paid off!

Would you recommend the college to other friends and family?

Yes! Teachers are helpful, friendly, and do their best for their students’ success.
