Course Overview

On this introduction to the Creative Media industries our professional team will support you in learning about audience, representation, promotion, TV and film, advertising, photography and radio skills. By completing a range of units, you will gain the confidence to complete further study on higher level courses within the creative industries, which include media production, games design and graphic design. You will learn about all the stages required to get an idea onto screen including pre-production, production and post production techniques.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 3 or above (including maths and/or English Language).

What you will Learn

This course will give you the skills to help you better understand a range of Media techniques. You may choose to study this course prior to completing a 90 Credit Diploma in TV/Film or Games Development. Alternatively, you may wish to seek employment.


Assessment

You will be required to complete a range of assignments throughout the academic year, that will culminate in a final major project.

Progression

If you are keen to start your career in the industry, our BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma (Film and Television Production) or BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma (Games Development) would be the next level of study after you have successfully completed this study programme at Merit level.

Mandatory Units

This course allows learners to develop a wide range of skills relevant to the creative media industries and is designed for those with a keen interest in the creative media sector.

The course is made up of units relating to specialist digital creative media disciplines, learn a wide range of skills and decide which areas you may wish to progress into, including;

– Game Level Design
– Video Production
– Animation Techniques

You will learn in a variety of ways, including workshops, individual and interactive group tasks, demonstrations and lectures. You will be expected to work as part of a production crew in order to produce quality pieces of work, as well as working on your own projects.

Students have access to fully equipped computer suites, drawing tablets, high quality photographic and video recording equipment and facilities.
