Course Overview

The Access Course is the equivalent to 3 A – Levels

This is a practical course offering a broad base of skills to support employment in the health care sector. This course is designed to introduce some of the main areas of psychology and sociology, and how it’s studied as well as various core units.

You will learn all about you will develop a broad understanding of the core areas of modern Psychology and Sociology relevant to so many professions.

Key topics include Biopsychology of Stress, Concepts of Normality and Mental Health, Early Social Development, Interpersonal Relationships, Memory Non-Verbal Communication, Personality Theory, Psychological Perspectives, Social Influence and Independence, The Nature-Nurture Debate, Changing Beliefs in British Society, Education and Social Inequality, Poverty in Contemporary Britain, Social Stratification and Inequality and Sociology of the Family in Modern Britain.

All assessment is coursework based. Students produce a portfolio of work that is internally and externally assessed.

The Tuition fee for this course is £3,022.00 You may be eligible for a full fee remission if you are in receipt of certain benefits or earning less than £20,888 per annum (if residing within Greater Manchester)
