Course Overview

This qualification will develop the knowledge and awareness of the types of provision in Health, Social Care and Children and Young People’s sector. It includes the roles within the sector to include principles and values, health and safety and working with others. The qualification is aimed at learners who wish to develop knowledge and understanding of the care sector and are considering a career in health and/or social care with adults or children or young people.

Course Requirements

4 GCSE’s at Grade 2 or above (including English Language and maths).

All successful applicants will be required to complete a DBS check

What you will Learn

The qualification provides a pathway into the sector giving learners the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills about the wider health and social care sector before they decide which career progression they wish to choose. Learners will study GCSE maths and English alongside their qualification. Learners will be expected to undertake work experience as part of their study programme.

Assessment

The qualification will be assessed by your Tutor using a range of methods to include written assignments, tasks such as designing charts and leaflets, course work or methods such as oral questioning.

Level 2 NCFE Cache Diploma in Early Years Practitioner

Career Options

On successful completion of the qualification learners may wish to pursue a career within the sector can progress to Level 2 qualifications such as Health and Social Care or Early Years Practitioner.

Mandatory Units

To gain the qualification learners must achieve 25 Credits – 20 credits mandatory and a minimum of 5 credits from optional units.

Units are:

Understand the range of service provision and roles within health and social care, early years and childcare
Understand the principles and values in health and social care, early years and childcare
Awareness of protection and safeguarding within the sector
Introduction to communication
Introduction to awareness of equality and inclusion in health care settings
Introduction to health and safety in health care settings
Introductory awareness of person- centred support in health care settings
