Here at the Trafford College Group, we are proud to host our regular Welcome Wednesday events in partnership with AgeUK Stockport. Welcome Wednesdays welcome visitors from the group to our campuses once a month for various activities and skills sharing with our students.

This month, The Cheadle College Choices students hosted their Winter Warmer event for the visitors. Students worked together to produce homemade soup for the guests, served tea, biscuits and cake.

The Cheadle College’s Choices programme promotes independence and confidence to lead into employability and independent living for their students. The event was a great way to share what they have learnt so far with local community members.

“I am so proud of how hard my students worked in preparing and hosting such a fantastic event. We look forward to welcoming AgeUK back again.” – Catherine Suter, Choices teacher

The event gave both the students and visitors a chance to get to know each other and share their interests, with some students showing off their art work, and others showing their competitive board game skills.

The students came up with the idea of hosting a board game room where visitors could join them in various card games, Jenga, connect 4, and snakes and ladders.

We spoke to some of our students to see what they thought of the event:

“I enjoyed playing board games with our guests and getting to know them it was so much fun!” – Michael

“I enjoyed making the soup for the event and being a waitress, it makes me feel confident.” – Charlotte

“I loved speaking to all our guests and showing them my art work.” – Ahnaf

A huge thank you to all of our staff, students and visitors for being a part of such a wonderful social event. We look forward to the next Welcome Wednesday and we hope to see some returning faces.
